What is Career Wavelength?

Career Wavelength is a career coaching and consulting business at the intersection of career development and mental health. Caroline offers individual coaching, group coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements that help professionals navigate their careers while managing personal circumstances - particularly those with mood disorders who need career guidance that accounts for the whole person.

What services do you offer?

Career Wavelength offers career coaching (individual, group, and Quick Dive focused sessions), organizational consulting, workshop facilitation, and speaking engagements on topics including career development, workplace culture, and organizational change. The work integrates career services expertise with mental health advocacy to create more authentic, sustainable approaches to professional development.

Who do you work with?

Career Wavelength works with professionals at all career stages who are looking for career guidance that accounts for the whole person. Caroline has particular expertise supporting individuals with mental health conditions or other circumstances that impact how they approach their careers, but her services benefit anyone who wants thoughtful, personalized career guidance.

How is Career Wavelength different from other career services?

Most career services assume everyone can work the same way - hustle constantly, network after hours, maintain rigid schedules, and just "push through" challenges.

Career Wavelength takes a different approach, specializing in mental health-informed career development. This means understanding that factors like energy levels, schedule needs, environment, and personal circumstances significantly impact a person's ability to perform and thrive.

Career Wavelength helps people find careers and strategies that work with their lives, not against them.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! Career Wavelength offers a complimentary 15-minute consultation to answer questions about services and help determine what would be most helpful for each person's situation.

Where are you located?

Career Wavelength is based in Los Angeles, California, but all services are 100% virtual. We can even work with you in-person depending on your needs; please reach out to us directly to discuss.

Coaching

What is career coaching?

Career coaching is professional guidance focused on your career development, job search, workplace challenges, and professional goals. Unlike therapy (which addresses mental health and emotional wellbeing), career coaching is action-oriented and focused specifically on your professional life - helping you navigate job searches, make career decisions, develop strategies for workplace challenges, prepare for interviews, negotiate offers, and build sustainable career paths. Think of it as having an experienced guide who helps you clarify your goals, develop strategies, overcome obstacles, and take action toward the career and work-life you want.

How is Career Wavelength different from other career coaching?

Most career coaching assumes everyone can work the same way - hustle constantly, network after hours, maintain rigid schedules, and just "push through" challenges. Career Wavelength takes a different approach. We specialize in mental health-informed career coaching, which means we understand that factors like energy levels, schedule needs, environment, and personal circumstances significantly impact your ability to perform and thrive. We combine traditional career development theory with real-world understanding of mental health conditions to help you build a sustainable, fulfilling career that accounts for your whole self - not just your resume.

What coaching formats do you offer?

I offer a few different options for career coaching:

  • Individual Coaching: One-on-one personalized sessions (starting at $150 for first session, $200 standard rate). Available as single sessions, multi-session packages, or monthly membership for ongoing support.
  • Quick Dive Coaching: Focused 30-minute individual sessions ($100) where you select ONE specific topic from a list (like resume review, interview prep, salary negotiation, etc.) for quick, actionable guidance.
  • Group Coaching: Monthly small-group sessions ($45/session) where up to 10 people bring their questions and challenges for professional coaching and peer support in an office-hours format.

Do you offer a free consultation call?

Yes, I offer 15-minute consultation calls to learn more about your individual needs and to answer any questions you may have about Career Wavelength. You can schedule on this website.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment through the Scheduling page, or you can reach out to us using the contact form.

How do I know which coaching option is right for me?

Choose Group Coaching if you want ongoing support at an accessible price and benefit from community learning.

Choose Quick Dive if you have one specific question or challenge and need quick, focused feedback.

Choose Individual Coaching if you need completely confidential one-on-one attention for complex challenges or want sustained support over time.

Still not sure? Schedule a free 15-minute consultation and we'll figure out what makes sense for you.

How do coaching sessions work?

All coaching sessions are conducted virtually via Zoom for maximum accessibility and convenience. Depending on the service, you may be asked to submit materials in advance (like a resume for review) or come prepared with specific questions or topics. Sessions are conversational, collaborative, and action-oriented - you'll leave with specific strategies and next steps you can implement immediately. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential, whether in group or individual settings.

What can we work on in coaching?

We can work on job search strategies, career transitions, application materials (resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn), interview preparation, salary negotiation, workplace challenges, work-life balance, career decision-making, and managing career development with personal circumstances. Essentially, anything related to your professional life and career goals is fair game.

How do I know if I need career coaching or therapy? Are career coaches and life coaches the same thing?

If you're struggling with mental health symptoms, processing trauma, or need clinical support, please work with a licensed therapist.

If you're navigating career decisions, job search challenges, workplace situations, or professional development, career coaching can help. Career coaching is also different from life coaching - I focus specifically on your professional life and career, not broader life goals, relationships, or personal development outside of work.

You can (and many people do) work with both a therapist and a coach simultaneously - they serve different but complementary purposes.

Can I work with you if I don't have a mental health condition?

Absolutely! While I have specialized expertise in mental health-informed career coaching, my services benefit anyone who wants thoughtful, personalized career guidance that accounts for their whole life. You don't need to have a mental health condition to work with me.

Do you accept insurance?

I'm a career coach, not a therapist, so my services are not covered by health insurance. However, some employers offer professional development funds that may cover career coaching. We also can consider financial need on a case-by-case basis. More information is available under the Coaching tab.

What's your cancellation policy?

Please provide 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full fee.

Consulting

What services do you offer for organizations?

I offer organizational consulting, workshop facilitation, and speaking engagements on topics including career development, workplace culture, organizational change, mental health in the workplace, and accessibility in competitive industries. I work with companies, nonprofits, educational institutions, and professional associations to create more inclusive and effective approaches to talent development and workplace practices. Contact me to discuss your organization's specific needs.

Are you available for speaking engagements?

Yes! I speak on topics including career development, workplace culture, organizational change, mental health advocacy, and accessibility in competitive industries. I have 20+ years of public speaking experience and regularly present to audiences ranging from 20 to 1,000+ people. Please contact me using the form on this website with details about your event, audience, desired topic, format (virtual or in-person) and any other relevant information.

Do you offer workshops?

Yes! I design and facilitate workshops on career development topics including job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, work-life balance, and career navigation for people with personal circumstances. I've created and delivered the  Career Navigation for People with Mood Disorders 6-part workshop series for DBSA California. Workshops can be tailored to your organization's specific needs and delivered virtually or in-person.

About Caroline

What's your background?

I have an Ed.D. in Organizational Change and Leadership from USC, where my research focused on accessibility barriers in competitive industries. I've worked as a career specialist for over 7 years with clients of all stages of their careers. I'm also a board member of DBSA California and won the 2025 Outstanding Peer Leader Award for creating the Career Navigation for People with Mood Disorders workshop series. I also live with cyclothymia, OCD and ADHD, and use that lived experience as a framework alongside traditional career development theory to inform my work.

My coaching-specific certifications include:

Mental Health First Aid, National Council on Mental Wellbeing
Positive Intelligence Coach Certification, Positive Intelligence (in progress, anticipated completion in December 2025)
Senior Professional Resilience Coach Certification, International Association of Career Coaches (in progress, anticipated completion in February 2026)

Why do you specialize in mental health-informed career work?

My specialization comes from both professional expertise and lived experience. My doctoral research focused on accessibility barriers in competitive industries, specifically examining the challenges low-income college students face in unpaid entertainment industry internships. I also navigate my own career with a mood disorder, which gives me firsthand understanding of how traditional career advice often falls short when it doesn't account for factors like energy levels, schedule needs, and the realities of managing personal circumstances while building a career. This combination allows me to provide career guidance that's both professionally grounded and deeply practical for people whose lives don't fit the conventional "hustle culture" narrative.

Do you only work with people with mental health conditions?

Not at all. While I have specialized expertise in this area, I work with anyone who wants thoughtful, personalized career guidance. My approach benefits anyone who's tired of one-size-fits-all career advice.

Are you a therapist or counselor?

No. I'm a career coach with expertise in organizational change, career development, and advocacy. While I bring a mental health-informed perspective to my work, I provide career guidance only - not therapy or clinical counseling.

Where are you located?

I'm based in Los Angeles. Most of my services are 100% virtual, so I can meet you (literally and figuratively) wherever you are! I am also available for in-person engagements; feel free to reach out directly to discuss.

Are you on social media?

You can find Career Wavelength on LinkedIn here, and me personally here.

As for other social media platforms, I've chosen not to use them. Social media tends to exacerbate some of my mental health symptoms, and since Career Wavelength is all about finding what works for you and balancing your health with your career, it felt important to practice that myself.
